Maintenance Engineer Team Lead

Salary: $90000 - $110000 Per Year

Salary Range: $90k-$110k salary + 10% bonus (based on experience and skill level)

Job Description: We are seeking a versatile and experienced Maintenance Engineer Team Lead to manage and perform repairs of a wide range of restaurant equipment across our travel plaza locations. This role demands expertise in electrical schematics, building electrical systems, HVAC, plumbing, and general handyman skills. As a key member of the Applegreen team, you’ll not only perform maintenance tasks but also lead and develop your team, ensuring high standards and operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Inspect, diagnose, and perform repairs and maintenance on all food service equipment.
  • Maintain small appliances, kitchen equipment, and minor electrical, plumbing, and carpentry repairs.
  • Ensure that all equipment is in safe operating condition.
  • Coordinate repairs within approved budgetary guidelines.
  • Maintain preventative maintenance schedule and records.
  • Travel to various Travel Plazas to repair and maintain all facility-related items.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve electrical, HVAC, and plumbing issues using strong schematic knowledge.
  • Perform and manage preventive maintenance to minimize equipment downtime and ensure seamless operations.
  • Manage work orders across your team through our app-based system, order parts, and coordinate with suppliers.
  • Communicate effectively with plaza managers, staff, and team members to provide updates and solutions.
  • Develop and train colleagues to build a stronger, more versatile team.
  • Oversee and manage the work of team members, ensuring quality and efficiency.
  • Maintain company vans, tools, and equipment to Applegreen’s high standards.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • A minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience in the restaurant/hospitality industry.
  • Experience in repairing commercial kitchen equipment and appliances is required.
  • Familiarity with commercial electrical (single & 3 phase 120,208 voltages).
  • Skilled in plumbing (faucet and toilet repair, sink drain fix), painting, repairing and patching drywall, tile installation, and repair.
  • Carpentry skills (basic carpentry for repairing cabinets, laminates, countertops, door repairs & adjustments).
  • Ability to bend and twist to perform normal job functions.
  • Ability to lift and maneuver items weighing up to 80 lbs.
  • Ability to perform tasks while on a ladder.
  • Ability to operate equipment that requires continual and repetitive hand and arm motions.
  • Ability to be exposed to various climates heat and cold.
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record (travel between plazas may be required).
  • Ability to work with a computer maintenance management system is required.
  • Certificate of completion of courses in above-mentioned trades is recommended but not required.

Preferred Experience & Skills:

  • Proven experience repairing restaurant equipment in a fast-paced environment and the ability to develop others.
  • Strong knowledge of electrical schematics, building electrical systems, HVAC, and plumbing.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills to represent Applegreen professionally.
  • Comfortable using app-based work order management systems.
  • Self-motivated with high integrity and the ability to manage your own schedule and hold others accountable.
  • Certifications (e.g., EPA 608, electrical, HVAC, OSHA) are a plus.
  • Inventory management or supplier coordination experience is a bonus.
